An European Union certification mark shall be an EU trade mark which is capable of distinguishing goods or services which are certified by the proprietor of the mark in respect of material, mode of manufacture of goods or performance of services, quality, accuracy or other characteristics, with the exception of geographical origin, from goods and services which are not so certified.
(Regulation 2017/1001 / EU of the European Parliament and of the Council on the European Union trade mark – [‘EUTMR’])
Az „access4you European Trade Mark” request has been filed to the European Union Patent and Trademark office. EU Certification Mark Application Number: 018050170
All rights are reserved to Access4You International Ltd.
The primary objective of the access4you certification process is to ease the daily life of people with special needs/disabilities by providing accurate information on different facilities regarding their compliance with requirements related to different types of special needs.
The www.access4you.io website provides trustworthy, accurate and detailed information.
The access4you certification aims to raise awareness. We believe that a significant part of citizens have some sort of special need, requiring circumstances that differ from the standard built environment specifics we are used to today.
We aim to incentify service providers, facility owners and managers to strive for meeting the needs of people with special needs, that – if done well – will also contribute to their business results.
Access4you audits access to facilities, and access to the core services provided at the specific facility. During the audit we consider different kinds of special needs:
wheelchair users
elderly, limited in their physical movement
people with audio impairment
blind and visually impaired
parents with storrels
people with cognitive disabilities
When we created the checklist we considered the European law, European regulations related to built environments, different international audit systems, experts as well as people with special needs.
However, one should be aware of the fact that while many of the special needs can be considered, there could be a number of citizens who have special needs in multiple regards may require truly unique conditions and service.
There may be public spaces, where enabling all citizens with special needs may be impossible. The audit and certification can only provide accurate information for the different groups described above.
Access4You trade mark defines mininum requirements for the different types of facilities, considering the necessities of people with special needs.
The minimum requirements defined may be imposing that either the citizen is able to use the service by him/herself, or with help by someone.
In case the function of the facility is only available for special need citizens with help, it is up to them to judge and decide what kind of help she needs to access the facility or its services.
The ability to enter a facility and to move within the facility is required but not sufficient for the certification – it is not the only element.
The facility only becomes eligible for the trademark if its core functions and services are accessible to wheelchair users as a minimum. (This is because wheelchair users necessities’ pose the most versatile requirements towards a facility)
The minimum requirements for each group, that is, the minimum eligibility conditions for certification, are summarized in the figure in the QUALIFICATION menu.
Having all the parts of the building to comply with the requirements is not a must for a successful audit.
All facilities are audited against the requirement of the different special need segments listed above. For a space to qualify for accessibility at a given category, it must obtain at least 50% of the points. In case the number does not reach the 50% for the segment, the certification will not show that segment. However, detailed information will still be available for all the segments’ needs on the acccess4you.io website.
When qualifying ancillary or ancillary services, self-use is positively overestimated, thus promoting the right to self-determination.
The audit and certification does not fully cover all the different special needs – in case a citizen has a number of special needs in multiple areas we may not be able to provide them with accurate information.
